Our Mission:
 
     The mission of Shadowlawn Middle School is to develop studentsŐ intellectual, physical, social, and ethical character, preparing them to take their place in todayŐs multicultural society.
 
Our Beliefs:
 
1.   Each student is a unique individual capable of learning and achieving in a supportive, safe, and disciplined environment.
 
2.   An effective learning environment is the responsibility of faculty, students, parents and our community.
 
3.  A variety of assessment tools is essential in evaluating student performance and creating instructional plans.

4.  Utilizing the guidelines established by governing bodies will lead to student success.

5.  Input from all stakeholders is vital in decision making for Shadowlawn.

Class Rules for Ms. LuttrellŐs Classes

In order to have a successful learning experience, students must follow these procedures in my classroom:

1.   Enter the room quietly with all necessary materials.

2.  Be seated. If you must get up raise your hand for permission.

3.  Respect others by remaining quiet and in your seat.

4.  Respect your teacher by listening and following directions.

5.  Respect yourself by assuming responsibility for your work and conduct.

6.  Leave the room as you found it.

7.  No candy, gum, etc.

Assignments

If a student is absent, assignments and tests must be made up within number of days the student was absent. Example: If the student was absent for three (3) days, s/he has three days to make up those assignments and/or tests.

*Shelby County School Board Textbook Policy Statement:

 

Textbooks are issued to students with the understanding that the textbooks will be properly maintained and returned at the appointed time. Sanctions will be invoked in the event that a pupil refuses to pay for a lost or damaged textbook at the replacement cost less reasonable depreciation. These sanctions are intended to prohibit lost or damaged textbooks through willful intent or neglect and include:

 

a.         Not allowing the student to earn course/subject credit until restitution is made;

b.         Withholding of all grades, cards, diplomas, certificates of progress, or transcripts until restitution is made; and

 

c.         Refusal to issue any additional textbooks until restitution is made.

 

Nothing in this policy shall prohibit any pupil or parent from voluntarily purchasing textbooks. (Policy 6212; T.C.A.¤49-3-310)
